En Primeur 2010 – What I am Tasting, and When

I don’t usually write about my itinerary or appointments at the UGC Tastings in Bordeaux but I thought it might be useful for those of you who are interested. It will give you an idea of what I am tasting and if you want to contact me for my opinions on the wine I’ll be pleased to give you an honest answer.

The En Primeur week is always frantic and I spend a lot of my time criss crossing from one AOC to another to try and fit in as many wines as I can. I’ve never counted how many I have ended up tasting by the end of the week but it runs into hundreds.

Although it’s a delightful temptation I avoid the hospitality put on by the various chateaux as I like to spend the evenings musing over the wines I have tasted.

I stay at a small hotel which has a tranquil atmosphere and a very good menu. It’s well away from the hub bub and I can relax. This also gives me time to write up my thoughts and publish them on blogger so that you have a daily account of what’s what. I will try and keep you updated via Twitter.

I may end up cramming a few more tastings in here and there and I often go back to re-taste certain wines but the itinerary below is correct as of the time of publishing. If you want to contact me then you can email me at or send me a tweet at @NicksWine.
