The British have had a love affair with Bubbly since the days of Champagne Charlie in the 19th century and our Champagne Authentic Rosé Brut is definitely a champagne to fall in love with! Made by Champagne House Edmond Barnaut, from 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay grapes it is almost strawberry in colour and has plenty of tiny fine, lively bubbles. It is very aromatic and on the nose it is full of fruit and berries. In the mouth it has a full bodied, fruity, almost Kir Royale taste, with notes of wild cherry, rose, and quince. Superb and dry you can drink it as an aperitif but it also goes well with all your Christmas foods!
Crémant d’Alsace is a new discovery for the British but did you know that the top selling sparkling wine in France is actually Crémant? Crémant wines are often mistaken for Champagnes and are made by the same methods but in other regions of France so therefore can not officially be called “Champagne.” These wines are made with exactly the same grapes as Champagne (Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay), and with the same method, but often come from estates that are considerably older. So why not discover one of the best kept secrets of the French for yourself – you certainly will not be disappointed!
Crémant d’Alsace Extra Brut Jean Baptiste Adam has no less than 14 generations of winemakers behind it – the House having been founded in 1614, in the Alsace village of Ammerschwihr. Ammerschwihr lies in the Kaefferkopf Grand Cru vineyard and this Crémant is made with bio dynamic principles. It is made from the Chardonnay grape and is a delicate and dazzling wine with notes of melon, lemon, ripe pear and toast. Being medium weighted with a dry, robust finish it accompanies rich dishes such as duck, venison and beef as well as mackerel, smoked salmon and sturgeon.
Crémant d’Alsace Joseph Pfister is another gem from Ammerschwihr and is made from a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Auxerrois. This is a lovely pale yellow colour with a dense, very fine mousse lasting to the very last sip in the glass. It is very fruity on the nose with definite hints of apricots, lime blossom and plums. It is light and fresh on the palate and an ideal wine for accompanying an entire meal, from the aperitif to the dessert.
